RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The foreign ministers of Indonesia, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and the United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the actions of Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir against participants of the humanitarian flotilla bound for Gaza while they were under Israeli detention. In a joint statement issued on Monday, May 25, 2026, the ministers described Ben-Gvir’s treatment of the volunteers as disgraceful, degrading, and unacceptable.
The ministers stated that the deliberate public humiliation of detainees constitutes a violation of Israel’s obligations under international law, including international humanitarian law and international human rights law.
“The foreign ministers stressed that the deliberate public humiliation of detainees is a disgraceful assault on human dignity,” the joint statement said.
The ministers also strongly condemned the illegal and extremist acts of incitement and violence carried out by Ben-Gvir and several other Israeli officials against Palestinians in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
According to the statement, Ben-Gvir’s provocative actions fuel hatred and extremism and obstruct efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace based on the two-state solution.
Additionally, the ministers demanded accountability for Ben-Gvir’s actions and called for concrete measures to end the repeated provocations, incitement, and violations.
They also urged steps to prevent similar actions from recurring and emphasized the importance of protecting human rights and ensuring humane treatment for all detainees in accordance with international law in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
