RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - High-level talks between Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump in Beijing have drawn attention from Indonesia, as Indonesian Ambassador to China and Mongolia Djauhari Oratmangun said that the meeting could help reinforce global economic and political stability amid rising international uncertainty.

Speaking in Beijing on Saturday, May 16, 2026, Ambassador Djauhari said the high-level talks reflected efforts by both powers to maintain constructive relations amid ongoing geopolitical and economic tensions.

“The meeting between President Trump and President Xi is important because it is expected to provide a positive signal for global stability and markets amid global uncertainty,” Ambassador Djauhari said, as quoted by Antara.

Xi and Trump held a bilateral meeting lasting two hours and 15 minutes on Thursday, followed by a visit to the Temple of Heaven and a state dinner. On Friday, Trump also received a private tour of Zhongnanhai, the official leadership compound and residence of top Chinese Communist Party officials.

Ambassador Djauhari highlighted the presence of leading American business executives in Trump’s delegation as a sign of future cooperation priorities between the two countries.

“It is also important to observe the composition of business leaders attending from major U.S. companies, because it shows the direction of future cooperation, ranging from technology, artificial intelligence, supply chains, to the financial sector,” he said.

According to the ambassador, developments in China-U.S. relations will also have implications for Indonesia.

During the state dinner, Xi said he and Trump agreed to build a constructive China-U.S. relationship with strategic stability while promoting steady, healthy, and sustainable bilateral ties that could contribute to global peace and prosperity.

“The two countries can support each other’s success and advance the well-being of the entire world,” Xi said.

Trump, meanwhile, said both nations had an opportunity to create a future marked by greater prosperity, cooperation, happiness, and peace for future generations. Trump also invited Xi and China’s First Lady Peng Liyuan to visit the White House on September 24, 2025.

“We look forward to the visit,” Trump said.

Trump’s Beijing visit included 17 executives from major American companies, including Tim Cook of Apple, Jensen Huang of NVIDIA, Elon Musk of Tesla, and executives from Boeing, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, Qualcomm, Visa, Mastercard, and BlackRock.

Executives from major Chinese firms including Lenovo Group, Xiaomi, Hisense, and COSCO Shipping also attended the dinner. ***
