Prabowo Welcomed by Indonesian Students at Eastern Economic Forum

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian students in Vladivostok expressed pride and optimism as President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Russia to attend the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) as guest of honor at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin.

Manik Kusuma Ningtias, a master’s student in transportation engineering at Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU), said she hopes Prabowo’s presence will open more avenues for economic cooperation between Indonesia and Russia.

“I am proud to meet the President for the first time. His attendance here should pave the way for stronger economic ties,” she noted, as quoted by Antara.

Other students echoed similar sentiments. Andini Yuliasari, who has studied in Vladivostok for four years, described the encounter as unforgettable.

“It was nerve‑wracking yet joyful to finally meet and shake hands with the President. His presence here makes us proud as Indonesians,” she said, adding hopes that Prabowo’s role at the forum will deepen bilateral relations.

Kiki Rizki Agustiani, a postgraduate psychology student, said welcoming Prabowo was a memorable experience. “This is the first time I’ve seen an Indonesian President in Vladivostok. I am proud to have President Prabowo and hope he continues to lead with strength,” she remarked.

President Prabowo landed at Vladivostok International Airport on Wednesday morning, September 2, 2026, local time, greeted by Russian officials and Indonesian diplomats.

His visit includes bilateral talks with Rissian President Putin and participation in the EEF’s main sessions, aimed at strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, energy, and other strategic sectors.

The President traveled aboard Garuda Indonesia‑1 from Jakarta, accompanied by senior ministers including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Energy Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, Higher Education Minister Brian Yuliarto, Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

President Prabowo’s attendance at the EEF follows his appearance at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in 2025, marking the second consecutive year he has been invited as Russia’s guest of honor. ***
