RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has departed for Cebu, the Philippines, to attend the 48th ASEAN Summit scheduled for May 7–8, 2026, where leaders are expected to strengthen regional cooperation amid shifting global dynamics.

According to the Presidential Secretariat, President Prabowo left Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta at 09:10 a.m. on Thursday, May 7.

His departure was formally seen off by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and State Intelligence Agency Head Muhammad Herindra, Antara reported.

Upon arrival in Cebu, President Prabowo is scheduled to join the Brunei Darussalam–Indonesia–Malaysia–Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP‑EAGA) Summit, a strategic forum aimed at boosting connectivity and subregional economic cooperation.

During the summit, President Prabowo will discuss strengthening ASEAN collaboration in addressing global challenges, including energy security and geopolitical shifts. Leaders are expected to reinforce regional stability, economic growth, and strategic partnerships across multiple sectors.

Accompanying the President on his flight were Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. ***
