RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police have underscored their commitment to tackling transnational cybercrime with the arrest of an Indonesian national listed on Interpol’s Red Notice.

The suspect, identified by the initials LCS, was apprehended at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, on Sunday, May 3, 2026. Director of Cybercrime at the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Department, Brig. Gen. Himawan Bayu Aji, said the arrest reflects coordinated international efforts.

“This is the result of cross-border cooperation and demonstrates our seriousness in pursuing cybercrime offenders, particularly online fraud that harms the public,” he stated in Jakarta on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

LCS had been on the wanted list of the Cybercrime Directorate and is accused of operating within an international online fraud network based in Cambodia. At least 23 police reports from across Indonesia are linked to the case, now consolidated under the Cybercrime Directorate for streamlined investigation.

Investigators believe LCS acted as an operator using a platform called “abbishopee” to carry out fraudulent schemes. Following his arrest, he is being held for further questioning at police headquarters.

Authorities plan to expand the probe to uncover the broader network and trace financial flows. “We will continue developing this case to expose the international network involved and track the proceeds of crime to help recover victims’ losses,” Himawan said. ***
