RRI.CO.ID, Hangzhou - The Hangzhou Indonesia Student Community (HISC) will highlight Indonesian culture at its cultural event, INA DAY 2026. An iconic Javanese folklore is chosen as the event's main story.

"Through the organization of INA DAY 2026, HISC is committed to promoting Indonesian culture, strengthening intercultural relations at the international level, and showcasing Indonesian values within the global community," the community said in a statement received by RRI Voice of Indonesia recently.

This year's edition of INA DAY that will be held in Hangzhou, China, on Saturday, May 16, 2026, has "Tamanrathi" as its theme. It spotlighted Nyi Roro Kidul, a Javanese folkloric figure who HISC believes symbolizes harmony between humans and nature, and the balance between the real and the supernatural worlds.

The theme follows Tamanrathi as a place of contemplation and rest for Nyi Roro Kidul in maintaining the balance of nature. The word Tamanrathi comes from the word taman (garden), symbolizing a beautiful and calming place, and rathi, a Sanskrit word meaning pleasure, beauty, and happiness.

"INA DAY 2026: Tamanrathi is expected to become a space of happiness and cultural encounter, where Indonesian students in China can relieve their longing for their homeland and share the warmth and richness of Indonesian culture with the local and international communities," the statement said.

Furthermore, INA DAY 2026 will feature a bunch of activities, including musical performances from Indonesian students and a modern musical drama inspired by the country's folklore. Visitors also expected to enjoy an interactive booth offering Indonesian traditional games and creative activities, as well as bazaar showcasing a wide selection of Indonesian products.

INA DAY was last held in 2024 with about 450 visitors from more than 20 countries and 10 universities participating. This year, the event targets about 600 participants.

"The event is also open to local Chinese community and the international community, including international students in Hangzhou," HISC said.
