RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - China’s growing influence in Indonesia’s intellectual and cultural landscape was underscored this week with the launch of the English edition of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China (Volume V) in Jakarta.

The event, hosted by the Chinese Embassy on Tuesday, April 28, was framed not only as a book release but also as a platform for deepening mutual understanding between the two nations.

Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Wang Lutong described the publication as a “new window” for Indonesians to grasp China’s policies and development trajectory.

“This book opens fresh perspectives for all audiences in Indonesia to see what China is like. It also serves as a key reference for countries worldwide in shaping their modernization and strengthening development capacity,” Wang said in his remarks, as quoted by Antara.

He emphasized the strategic importance of Indonesia-China relations, noting that bilateral ties have advanced rapidly in recent years, with both nations supporting each other’s national development.

Wang added that Indonesian interest in learning about China continues to grow, and the book -- containing a collection of President Xi Jinping’s statements -- offers insights into the leadership’s vision and policy direction.

Encouraging Indonesians to read the volume, Wang suggested it could foster broader cooperation opportunities in the future.

From Indonesia’s side, the People's Consultative Assembly Speaker Ahmad Muzani highlighted China’s development achievements as a global point of attention, attributing much of the success to Xi Jinping’s leadership model and policy framework.

“China’s accomplishments cannot be separated from the governance and development strategies of President Xi,” Muzani said.

The launch, which has seen the book translated into 44 languages, was attended by Muzani alongside Minister of Transmigration Muhammad Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara, reflecting the significance Jakarta places on the event as part of its ongoing engagement with Beijing. ***
