RRI.CO.ID, Makkah - Indonesia provides 24-hour Shalawat bus services to support Hajj pilgrims’ mobility in Makkah. A total of 452 buses are deployed to ensure smooth access to the Grand Mosque.
Indonesian Hajj officers in Saudi Arabia operate transportation services across 21 routes serving pilgrims daily. These routes are distributed across five main accommodation zones where Indonesian pilgrims are staying.
This policy reflects the Indonesian government’s strong commitment to facilitating pilgrims’ mobility during the Hajj period. Transportation services are provided even for accommodations located within two kilometers of the Grand Mosque.
Head of Transportation Services for Indonesian Hajj Officers 2026, Syarif Rahman, said the policy goes beyond the minimum requirement set by Saudi authorities. He explained that Indonesia ensures transport services for all accommodation areas.
“According to Saudi regulations, pilgrims within 2,000 meters must be provided transportation, but the Indonesian government ensures all accommodations receive transport,” Syarif Rahman said.
A total of 452 city buses are deployed to support the transportation system throughout the Hajj season. These buses operate in continuous 24-hour shifts to maintain uninterrupted service for pilgrims.
Each vehicle is required to meet strict safety and roadworthiness standards set by the authorities. The operational age of each bus is limited to a maximum of five years.
Besides, Syarif Rahman added that the buses operate continuously with a daily operational system. He emphasized that the service is measured by day instead of trip cycles.
“The buses operate from 00:00 to 00:00, so the unit is counted per day, not per trip,” Syarif Rahman said.
Pilgrims are transported to the Grand Mosque through designated terminals including Jiad, Jabal Ka'bah, and Syib Amir. The Indonesian government ensures this service runs continuously from arrival until final departure.
