UK Minister for Aviation, Maritime and Decarbonisation Visits Indonesia

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The UK Minister for Aviation, Maritime and Decarbonisation, Keir Mather MP, visited Indonesia on Thursday, April 23, 2026, aimed to strengthen UK–Indonesia cooperation on maritime, transport and decarbonisation as well as to reinforce the UK’s long‑term commitment to the Indo‑Pacific through the UK–Indonesia Strategic Partnership.

Minister Mather met with his Indonesian counterparts, including Transport Vice Minister, Suntana and Vice Minister for Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure, Ronny Hutahayan, to discuss transport decarbonisation strategy, unlocking urban railway development potentials, and strengthening maritime cooperation.

He met with industry leaders to discuss opportunities for future cooperation, investment, and long term benefits, including supporting growth and jobs for both countries.

“The United Kingdom and Indonesia are both proud maritime nations with a shared interest in safe, secure and sustainable transport systems. My visit to Indonesia demonstrates the UK’s long term commitment to working with Indonesia and partners across the region to strengthen maritime cooperation, unlock economic opportunity, and shape the global transport agenda together," Minister for Aviation, Maritime and Decarbonisation Keir Mather MP in Jakarta on Thursday, April 23,2026.

The visit reflects the UK-Indonesia Strategic Partnership launched by President Prabowo Subianto and Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer in London in January 2026 which provides the framework for deeper cooperation across trade, investment, defence, maritime security, climate and people to people links.
