RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Francophonie Week 2026 is taking place across nine cities in Indonesia, including Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Solo, Surabaya, Bali, Medan, Makassar, and Semarang. The five-day event, running from April 20 to 24, 2026, features a wide range of activities combining arts, education, and global dialogue.

What you can find at Francophonie Week 2026:

Dialogue Between Cultures

One of the highlights of this year’s Francophonie Week is the performance “Avec le Temps” by Tunisian artists, singer Dorsaf Hamdani and violinist and composer Zied Zouari.

The show will be staged in Jakarta (April 20), Yogyakarta (April 22), and Surabaya (April 24), featuring reinterpretations of classic French songs infused with Arab and Mediterranean influences, performed in both French and Arabic as a form of intercultural dialogue.

Kartini Day Commemoration: Workshops and Public Discussions

This year’s edition also coincides with Indonesia’s Kartini Day on April 21, honoring national women’s emancipation figure Raden Ajeng Kartini.

A series of events highlight equality and inclusion, including the “Kartini Masa Kini” writing workshop at Jalma-Gramedia in Jakarta, as well as health-related discussions held at the Institut français d’Indonésie, in collaboration with the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection and partner NGOs.

FrancoFuture: Student Dialogue and Education Diplomacy

A meeting between Indonesian students and ambassadors from Francophone countries will take place on April 23 at Universitas Negeri Jakarta.

The forum provides an opportunity for direct engagement with diplomatic representatives from countries such as France, Tunisia, Switzerland, Rwanda, and Chile, focusing on international cooperation, education, and academic mobility.

Cultural Programs Open to the Public

Throughout the five-day event, the public can take part in various activities, including concerts, film screenings, performances, exhibitions, and French culinary experiences.

In addition, French language competitions, workshops, and public lectures are available for participants of all ages and backgrounds.

Through these programs, the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie, together with the Institut français d’Indonésie and Alliance Française, aims at promoting cultural exchange and expanding ties between Indonesia and Francophone countries.
