RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian immigration authorities in Bitung, North Sulawesi, have intensified enforcement under Operation Wirawaspada, securing two Chinese nationals, identified by initials PL and LA, for alleged violations of their stay permits.
Head of the North Sulawesi Immigration Office, Ramdhani, said the operation is part of a broader strategy by the Directorate General of Immigration to ensure foreign nationals comply with Indonesian law while safeguarding public order and security.
During the operation, the Intelligence and Immigration Enforcement Team (Inteldakim) conducted inspections at selected companies based on prior intelligence analysis. The checks focused on the presence, activities, and immigration documents of foreign workers.
Authorities found that the two individuals were using Visa on Arrival (VOA) permits with B1 index but allegedly misused them for purposes not allowed under Indonesia’s Immigration Law No. 6/2011.
“After being secured at the location, both were taken to the Bitung Immigration Office for further examination,” Ramdhani said, stressing that the process will uphold professionalism, accountability, and respect for human rights.
He added that Operation Wirawaspada reflects both preventive and repressive measures in immigration law enforcement, coordinated under central command.
The Bitung Immigration Office pledged to continue monitoring foreign nationals to maintain a safe and orderly environment and prevent misuse of stay permits in Indonesia. ***
