RRI.CO.ID, Moskow - President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin received a working visit from President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto in Moscow on Monday, April 13, 2026, aimed at building up bilateral relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, Putin expressed appreciation for Prabowo’s presence in fulfilling the invitation from the Russian government, while underscoring the importance of intensifying strategic cooperation between the two nations.
“First of all, I would like to thank Mr. President for accepting our invitation and for coming to Moscow,” Putin said, as quoted in an official statement from the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Jakarta on Monday, April 13, 2026.
He noted that relations between Russia and Indonesia continue to develop regularly and reflect the special nature of their partnership, particularly following the signing of the Strategic Partnership Declaration. Putin added that this strategic cooperation is evident across various sectors, especially in the economic field. Last year, bilateral trade increased by 12.5 percent.
“At the beginning of this year, there were certain adjustments; however, the Russia–Indonesia Joint Commission on Trade, Economic, and Technical Cooperation continues to work actively,” Putin said.
He expressed hope that President Prabowo’s visit would help identify solutions to existing challenges, ensuring that trade relations remain stable and continue to grow by the end of the year.
Furthermore, Putin highlighted several priority areas of cooperation, including energy, space, agriculture, industry, and pharmaceuticals. In addition, both countries continue to strengthen cooperation in humanitarian fields, including culture and education, while also enhancing coordination in various international forums through their respective foreign ministries.
Putin also pointed to Indonesia’s full membership in BRICS, which he said opens up new opportunities for cooperation, including within the framework of relations with the Eurasian Economic Union.
He added that President Prabowo’s visit is significant not only for bilateral relations but also in the context of current global developments.
“I am confident that your visit is very important, both in the context of ongoing global developments and for strengthening and intensifying bilateral relations between our two countries,” Putin said.
On that occasion, the Russian President also expressed appreciation for President Prabowo’s Easter greetings, noting that Russia is a multi-confessional country that upholds interfaith tolerance.
