RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s National Narcotics Agency (BNN) and Russia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs are deepening collaboration to enhance law enforcement capacity in tackling transnational drug crimes.

BNN Chief Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto said the partnership includes specialized training in investigative and enforcement techniques, held from April 6–10, 2026, at Lido, West Java. This marks the second such program, following a successful session in November 2025.

“Comprehensive international collaboration, particularly in information exchange and tactical intelligence, is fundamental to accelerating the effectiveness of narcotics eradication,” he noted in Jakarta on Thursday, April 9, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

Suyudi emphasized that the training aims to boost professionalism and technical skills among BNN personnel, enabling them to respond more effectively to evolving drug crime dynamics. He added that cooperation with Russia is expected to expand beyond training into sustained information-sharing and operational collaboration.

Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Sergei Gennadievich Tolchenov welcomed the initiative, describing it as a valuable continuation of joint efforts. “We are very grateful for this training. Combating narcotics can only be done together, and through programs like this we can deepen capabilities and broaden cooperation,” he said.

The training, held at BNN’s Human Resource Development Center (PPSDM), involved 37 BNN personnel specializing in drug enforcement. Both countries view the initiative as part of a broader bilateral commitment to narrowing the space for international narcotics networks and protecting communities from drug-related threats.

With stronger synergy between Indonesia and Russia, officials expressed optimism that the partnership will evolve into a long-term framework, reinforcing regional and global efforts to combat narcotics. ***
