President Prabowo Condemns Actions Killing Three Indonesian Soldiers

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, stated that Indonesian mourns the death of the country's three soldiers in their noble duty as peacekeeping forces of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in Lebanon late March. On behalf of the Indonesian people, he even strongly condemned actions in Lebanon that resulted in their deaths.
"We, fellow countrymen and women, strongly condemn any heinous act that destroys peace and causes the death of the nation's best soldiers," he said on his personal social media post on Sunday, 5 April 2026, before mentioning the soldiers by name.
These are Posthumous Major Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, Posthumous Sergeant Major Muhammad Nur Ichwan, and Posthumous Second Corporal Farizal Rhomadhon. They died following an Israeli attack in southern Lebanon in late March, which was claimed to have been aimed at Hezbollah forces.
Prabowo said the Indonesian state will "always be present" to honor the services of our heroes and maintain the honor of our soldiers. He also said that the state will ensure that their sacrifices are never forgotten.
"Let us continue the spirit and determination to maintain peace, and not give space to anyone who tries to divide the togetherness and harmony of the nation," he said.
On the same day, their remains were buried in three heroes' cemeteries after being laid to rest in Tangerang, Banten on Saturday, April 4, 2026. Major Zulmi was buried in Bandung, West Java; Sergeant Major Ichwan in Magelang, Central Java; and Second Corporal Farizal in Kulon Progo Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta.
Prabowo was present at a memorial in Tangerang's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, alongside former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. He paid his respects to them and visited their bereaved families.
Meanwhile, Indonesia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sugiono, has said Indonesia encourages the UN to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the peacekeeping troops' safety in various assignment areas, especially in Lebanon. Lebanon. According to the Presidential Secretariat, the step is a strong signal that Indonesia is not merely mourning but also leading the change.
"We are once again working to ensure that our peacekeeping troops are well-equipped, so that our peacekeeping troops remain healthy and safe in carrying out the tasks entrusted to them," Sugiono stressed.
