“On behalf of the President, we extend our heartfelt condolences over the loss of three of our Indonesian Military (TNI) soldiers who were carrying out their duties as UN peacekeepers in Lebanon,” State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi said in Jakarta on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

Minister Prasetyo explained that Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono had already issued a statement condemning the incident and urged relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation.

He added that coordination was underway with the Ministry of Defense, the Foreign Affairs Ministry, and the TNI Commander to ensure the repatriation of the soldiers’ remains and to brief Indonesian personnel still deployed in Lebanon to heighten vigilance.

Indonesia has also called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, pressing for a swift, comprehensive, and transparent inquiry into the attack. Foreign Minister Sugiono confirmed he had talked directly to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Monday, March 30, stressing that the safety of peacekeepers must remain non-negotiable.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that Lance Corporal (Praka) Farizal Rhomadhon was killed on Sunday, March 29, 2026, after artillery fire struck near the Indonesian UNIFIL contingent’s position in Adchit Al Qusayr, Lebanon. A day later, Brig. Gen. Rico Ricardo Sirait announced that two more soldiers had fallen while escorting UNIFIL troops.

The TNI later identified the victims as Captain (Inf) Zulmi Aditya Iskandar and Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ichwan. ***
