President Prabowo Meets Emperor Naruhito, Strengthens Indonesia-Japan Ties

RRI.CO.ID, Tokyo - President Prabowo Subianto paid a courtesy call to Emperor Naruhito at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo on Monday, March 30, 2026. The visit marks a pivotal moment in the President’s official state mission to Japan, reinforcing the deep-seated diplomatic bonds between the two nations.

Upon arrival, President Prabowo was personally greeted by Emperor Naruhito before proceeding to the Take-no-ma room for an official photo session. The two heads of state then held a private audience to discuss various strategic issues.

The meeting was characterized by a warm and intimate atmosphere, punctuated by lighthearted personal anecdotes that underscored the close rapport between the two leaders.

In addition to his audience with the Emperor, President Prabowo met with Crown Prince Fumihito, the Emperor's younger brother. This engagement further solidified the friendship between Indonesia and Japan at the highest level of the Imperial family.

Following the discussions, President Prabowo joined Emperor Naruhito and Crown Prince Fumihito for a state luncheon at Rensui North within the Imperial Palace grounds. Set against the backdrop of the palace's meticulously landscaped gardens, the luncheon remained cordial and relaxed.

President Prabowo appeared to thoroughly enjoy the setting, engaging in fluid conversation and expressing his admiration for the garden's serene beauty.

The visit transcends formal diplomacy, showcasing a genuine personal connection that serves as a strong signal of the advancing Indonesia-Japan partnership. This state visit reaffirms that the relationship is built not only on shared strategic interests but also on a foundation of mutual respect, trust, and a strengthening bond of friendship.
