RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), Jazuli Juwaini, asked countries around the world to urge Israel to open access to the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem for Muslims, following the ban on Eid prayers some days ago. Jazuli, who is also the President of the Justice and Democracy Forum (JDF) Asia Pacific, stated that he "strongly condemned" Israel's policy of prohibiting Palestinian Muslims from performing prayers at the historic mosque in connection with the entities' war with Iran.

"Al-Aqsa Mosque is not just an ordinary place of worship, but holds immense historical and spiritual value for Muslims worldwide as the first direction of prayer for Muslims," Jazuli said in a statement, as quoted in the DPR press release and received by RRI Voice of Indonesia in Jakarta on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.

Jazuli, of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), viewed the action as a clear and increasingly serious violation of international law and human rights. This aggressive move reflects Israel's increasingly bold disregard for international law and humanitarian norms.

This action, he continued, not only violates religious freedom but also exacerbates the situation and could trigger broader tensions. JDF Asia Pacific stated that restricting worship at the Al-Aqsa Mosque constitutes a form of oppression that cannot be justified under any circumstances.

This action is also considered to risk inciting anger among global Muslims and disrupting international peace and security stability. Therefore, JDF Asia Pacific urges the United Nations Security Council and the international community to force Israel to comply with the historic site's status quo and to respect the rights and freedom of worship within it.

"We request that Muslim access to the Al-Aqsa Mosque be fully opened without restrictions," Jazuli conveyed.

In addition, the JDF Asia Pacific calls on countries, especially those with Muslim majorities, the Organization of the Islamic Conference, the Arab League, and others, not to remain silent and to take more assertive diplomatic steps. It affirms that the global community is responsible for protecting holy sites and freedom of worship.

"Collective efforts are needed to ensure justice and peace are maintained," Jazuli said.
