RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Amid heightened regional tensions, Indonesian nationals in the United Arab Emirates marked Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri with a focus on safety, unity, and community at a central gathering in Abu Dhabi.

According to a statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi received in Jakarta on Monday, March 23, 2026, hundreds of Indonesians joined around 1,500 worshippers at the Joko Widodo Mosque in Abu Dhabi to perform the Eid prayer together in a solemn and communal atmosphere on Friday, March 20.

“This year’s Eid prayer was different from previous years, as it was held inside the mosque rather than in open areas as a precaution amid regional security dynamics,” the embassy said, as quoted by Antara.

In the sermon following the prayer, the preacher emphasized the importance of faith, family harmony, social unity, and love for one’s homeland, values seen as especially relevant in maintaining stability and security under current conditions.

After the prayer, worshippers exchanged greetings and celebrated Eid together, with members of the Indonesian diaspora also meeting Ambassador Judha Nugraha and his family, creating a warm sense of togetherness far from home.

However, the embassy did not organize its usual halalbihalal gathering this year, in line with local authorities’ guidance and as a precautionary measure for public safety.

To ensure the well-being of Indonesians in the UAE, the embassy said it continues to closely monitor developments and coordinate with local authorities and the Indonesian Consulate General in Dubai.
