Festival Indonesia 2026 Strengthens Friendship with Switzerland

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Culture and solidarity took center stage as Festival Indonesia 2026 in Rheinfelden, Switzerland, celebrated 75 years of Indonesia–Swiss diplomatic ties while showcasing the richness of Indonesian heritage.

Indonesians Ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein, Ngurah Swajaya, described the festival as a bridge to deepen friendship between the two nations.

“The blend of cultural expression and humanitarian activities reflects the resilient, diverse spirit of Indonesia–Swiss relations, built on togetherness,” he said in a statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Bern, as quoted by Antara.

Organized by the Indonesia–Swiss Association (VIS) with support from the embassy, the festival featured traditional dances such as Tari Piring, Teruna Jaya, Topeng Koncaran, Merak, and Yapong, alongside angklung performances, Indonesian fashion showcases, and batik collections. The presence of Puteri Indonesia Kebudayaan Nilam Onasis added to the cultural allure.

Visitors also enjoyed Indonesian culinary delights, SME bazaars, art and textile exhibitions, and photography by Heinz Köchli. A batik painting workshop led by artist Julie Siahaan offered hands‑on cultural engagement.

Beyond culture, the festival carried a message of solidarity, raising support for children’s education in West Sumatra and Aceh, and funds for disaster victims in Flores, East Nusa Tenggara.

Ambassador Ngurah praised VIS, the Indonesian diaspora, and Friends of Indonesia for their role in strengthening bilateral ties through community engagement. The event underscored how culture, dialogue, and shared values continue to reinforce Indonesia–Swiss relations. ***
