RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - A soldier from Kodam IX/Udayana has once again achieved a remarkable international milestone. Second Private Nawawi M.M. Latifullah, from the 834/Wakanga Mere Infantry Battalion, 21/Komodo Infantry Brigade, secured first place at the 2nd International Military Musabaqah Hifdzil Qur’an (MHQ). The event was held at the Air Defense College in Misrata, Libya, on Friday, March 13, 2026.

The international military Quranic memorization competition spanned six days, from Ramadan 17 to 23, 1447 H, March 7–13, 2026. Organized under the auspices of the Libyan Ministry of Defense, the event featured over 50 military personnel from various countries, including Indonesia and Mauritania. The competition’s theme, "Martyrs of the Homeland," served as a tribute to those who fell in defense of their country.

In the competition, Private Nawawi competed in the 30 Juz (full Quran) memorization category, delivering an outstanding performance that earned him the top spot. This achievement brings immense pride to the Indonesian National Military (TNI), specifically Military Regional Command IX/Udayana, and the nation on the global stage.

The closing ceremony was attended by Libyan Prime Minister, Abdul Hamid Al-Dabiba, alongside high-ranking military and government officials. During the event, the Prime Minister personally presented awards to the winners as a gesture of appreciation for the soldiers' dedication to Quranic memorization.

Commander of the 834, Wakanga Mere Infantry Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Inf Justikhandinata T, expressed deep pride in his soldier's accomplishment. "The entire family of Yonif TP 834/Wakanga Mere is very proud of Private Nawawi’s achievement. He has brought honor to the TNI, Kodam IX/Udayana, and Indonesia internationally," he stated.

Spokesperson of Military Regional Command IX/Udayana, Colonel Inf Widi Rahman, emphasized that this international victory proves TNI soldiers are not only professionally superior in military matters but also possess strong mental and spiritual qualities. He noted that this success is a source of great pride for the 834/Wakanga Mere Infantry Battalion, which has consistently provided support and prayers for its best soldiers.

"This achievement is a pride for Military Regional Command IX/Udayana, the Indonesian Army, and the nation. Private Nawawi’s success demonstrates that TNI soldiers can excel and compete in religious fields at an international level. This also reflects that mental and spiritual development is a vital part of shaping professional, resilient, and high-integrity TNI personnel," the Head of Information (Kapendam) said.
