RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government has issued a sharp condemnation of the intensifying Israeli military strikes across Lebanon, labeling the operations as severe violations of international law that have caused significant loss of life and massive infrastructure destruction.

In a formal statement released on Saturday, March 14, 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the escalation violates United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 of 2006 and breaches fundamental international humanitarian laws.

The Indonesian government expressed grave concern over the widening scope of the conflict, which has expanded beyond the "Blue Line" demarcation in the south to the heart of the capital city, Beirut.

“Indonesia calls on all parties to respect Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity and to stop attacks that endanger residents and civilian infrastructure,” the Ministry said, as quoted by Antara.

Furthermore, Jakarta is urging all conflicting parties to prioritize dialogue and diplomacy to prevent further escalation and to pave a path toward sustainable peace.

The fallout from the hostilities has also reached the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). Indonesia voiced profound concern regarding attacks on UNIFIL posts that have resulted in injuries to international peacekeepers.

The government reiterated that under international law, all parties are legally responsible for ensuring the safety and security of UN personnel and property. Amidst these risks, the Ministry extended its appreciation to the Garuda Contingent for their continued commitment to their mission, reaffirming that the safety of Indonesian personnel remains the nation's top priority.

The current volatility was catalyzed by a combined military strike by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28. In response, the Lebanese group Hezbollah targeted Israeli military positions on March 2. These exchanges occurred despite a ceasefire agreement from November 2024, which has seen repeated violations.

The subsequent Israeli offensive has targeted southern Beirut as well as eastern and southern regions of Lebanon. On March 3, Israeli forces reportedly breached the Lebanese border.

According to the latest reports, the strikes have killed more than 400 people and forced thousands of Lebanese citizens to flee their homes. Additionally, the ongoing military operations have caused widespread damage to vital civilian infrastructure throughout the region. ***
