RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Around 40 travel advisors representing more than 20 leading agencies from the San Francisco Bay Area gathered at Wisma Indonesia on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, for a promotional event titled “Indonesia: An Evening to Explore -- Travel, Taste & Connections.”

Organized by the Indonesian Consulate General in San Francisco with support from the Ministry of Tourism and Aero Globe Indonesia, the event aimed to strengthen partnerships with U.S. travel professionals while showcasing Indonesia’s diverse destinations.

Guests were introduced to Indonesia’s tourism offerings through presentations, cultural performances, audiovisual displays, and authentic Indonesian cuisine. Highlights included traditional dance performances -- Tari Kebyar Duduk from Bali and Tari Lenggang Nyai from Betawi -- reflecting the richness of Indonesia’s cultural heritage.

Attendees also viewed promotional videos featuring the upcoming Borobudur Lantern Festival (scheduled for May 31, 2026) and Indonesia’s five “Super Priority” destinations: Lake Toba, Borobudur, Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, and Likupang.

In his remarks, Consul General Yohpy Ichsan Wardana expressed appreciation to the travel industry representatives and reaffirmed the consulate’s commitment to advancing tourism cooperation across the U.S. West Coast. Supporting this message, Assistant Deputy for International Tourism Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism, Wisnu Sindhutrisno, outlined Indonesia’s global tourism strategies and opportunities for collaboration with North American travel agencies. Tasneem Ziauddin of Singapore Airlines also presented flight connectivity options linking U.S. cities to Indonesia.

The evening featured a Nusantara dinner prepared by Jeanette Meilycha and Chef Alan Wirahadi, offering dishes such as rendang, ayam lado ijo, balado kentang ikan asin, and gulai buncis rebung. Guests also enjoyed traditional herbal drinks (jamu) including kunyit asam and jahe selasih, served by Acaraki Jamu Corner.

A key component of the program was a business-matching session, connecting Indonesian tour operators and hotels with Bay Area travel agencies. Four Indonesian operators and one Los Angeles-based operator participated as sellers, while about 40 agencies attended as buyers, exploring opportunities to expand Indonesian travel packages in the U.S. market.

Ahead of the event, Consul General Wardana and Wisnu Sindhutrisno also met with Alvin Seah, Vice President of Singapore Airlines for the U.S. West Coast, to discuss enhancing tourism promotion and flight connectivity for American travelers.

Through this initiative, the Indonesian Consulate General in San Francisco and its partners aim to broaden cooperation with U.S. travel industry players and boost American interest in visiting Indonesia’s diverse destinations. ***
