Indonesia Sends 200,000 Liters of Clean Water to Gaza Communities

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Alms Agency (Baznas), in collaboration with Kitabisa, has delivered 200,000 liters of clean water from the Indonesian people to residents in Zeitoun and Tel al-Hawa, Gaza, Palestine.
Baznas Deputy II overseeing distribution and utilization, Imdadun Rahmat, emphasized that access to clean water is a fundamental human right. He noted that the aid is expected to help meet the daily needs of around 5,000 Palestinians who face severe shortages.
“We hope this assistance can help fulfill the community’s need for clean water, especially in residential areas with limited access,” Imdadun said in Jakarta on Thursday, March 12, 2026, as quoyed by Antara.
He explained that Israeli attacks have caused devastating impacts on Palestinian communities, destroying land, infrastructure, and water and sanitation facilities. “They urgently need clean water, particularly in Gaza and refugee areas where access is scarce,” he added.
Imdadun described how residents often wait for hours in long lines to collect just one or two jerrycans of water whenever delivery trucks arrive. He expressed hope that the program will continue and reach even more people in need.
He also extended gratitude to donors who entrusted their zakat, infak, and sadaqah (ZIS) contributions through Baznas. “Through the Clean Water Distribution for Palestine program, Baznas invites Indonesians to join in improving the quality of life for our brothers and sisters struggling amid hardship,” Imdadun said.
The initiative underscores Indonesia’s ongoing commitment to humanitarian support for Palestinians, ensuring that basic needs such as clean water remain a priority amid conflict and displacement. ***
