RRI.CO.ID, Kuala Lumpur - Kuala Lumpur is becoming an increasingly important stage for Indonesian fashion, as the Indonesian Embassy in Malaysia spotlighted homegrown labels through Experience Nusantara Couture, a business networking event held on March 10, 2026.
The initiative aimed to strengthen the presence of Indonesian fashion brands in Malaysia while fostering collaboration with buyers, retailers, distributors, media, and other industry stakeholders.
“Tonight, as we bring together designers, buyers, retailers, media, and friends of the fashion industry, our goal is to deepen ties, support the growth of Indonesian brands, and encourage collaboration across the creative ecosystem,” said Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia, Dato' Mohammad Iman Hascarya, as quoted by Antara, underscoring the momentum of the creative economy.
Organized in partnership with COLLABSTORE -- a leading Malaysian multi-brand retail destination for affordable luxury -- the event featured a curated fashion show presenting Indonesian labels currently stocked in the store. Around 100 guests attended, including diplomats, retail associations, media representatives, and fashion enthusiasts.
COLLABSTORE, founded in 2019, has built a reputation for showcasing unique, limited-edition designs and has become a vital platform for introducing Indonesian fashion to Malaysian consumers.
Ten Indonesian brands took part in the showcase: Studio Moral, Aeri Luxe, Intresse, Artolouis, Kanzi Collection, Nyaman, Putri Anjani, Kekean, Nyana Nyana, and Roemah Kebaya.
Wardah, Indonesia’s leading halal beauty brand, also participated, highlighting the broader potential of Indonesia’s creative industries in lifestyle and halal innovation.
The evening concluded with an iftar gathering, complemented by Indonesian culinary specialties such as Sate Madura, Combro, Kolak Ubi, Lapis Legit, and Nasi Kuning, prepared by Anggrek Kuring Restaurant. This added a cultural dimension to the networking program, blending fashion with food diplomacy.
The strong turnout and positive reception reflected Malaysia’s growing appreciation for Indonesian design, craftsmanship, and contemporary appeal. The Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur emphasized that Indonesian brands are increasingly recognized and sought after by Malaysian consumers and retailers.
Through initiatives like Experience Nusantara Couture, the embassy seeks to enhance the visibility and competitiveness of Indonesian fashion as part of the nation’s creative economy, while encouraging deeper commercial collaboration between Indonesian brands and Malaysia’s fashion industry. ***
