RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - As tensions rise across the Middle East, the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh has intensified efforts to safeguard its citizens in Saudi Arabia, relying on community networks and task forces to monitor conditions on the ground.

“The Embassy continues to closely observe the situation of Indonesians spread across Saudi Arabia through local task forces and community associations. Reports from these groups serve as our reference in assessing the current condition of Indonesian nationals,” First Secretary for Social and Cultural Affairs at the Embassy, Mahendra, said in a phone interview from Jakarta on Monday, March 2, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

Mahendra noted that, overall, Indonesians in Saudi Arabia remain safe. Still, heightened vigilance is advised, particularly in areas hosting U.S. military installations such as Riyadh and Dammam.

“Indonesians continue their daily activities as usual. Migrant workers and students interact with local communities while following guidance and instructions from the Saudi authorities regarding the situation,” he explained.

The Embassy has also urged Indonesians to register their presence and maintain communication with community groups through WhatsApp networks across the country, in which the Embassy itself is actively involved.

Earlier, the Embassy advised Indonesians in Saudi Arabia to stay calm, avoid panic, and remain alert to developments near their residences. Citizens are encouraged to register via the official portal https://peduliwni.kemlu.go.id/beranda.html, and in emergencies, they may contact the Embassy’s hotline on WhatsApp at +966 569173990.

The Embassy reaffirmed its commitment to closely monitor developments and coordinate with relevant authorities to ensure the safety of Indonesian nationals. ***
