RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - As Ramadan unfolds, Indonesia’s National Alms Agency (Baznas) has delivered 1,314 iftar meal packages to residents of Gaza, underscoring the country’s humanitarian commitment amid ongoing hardship in the region. The aid, sourced from donations by the Indonesian public, aims to ensure that Palestinian families can break their fast with proper nutrition despite limited access to food supplies.

Baznas Chairman Noor Achmad emphasized that providing nutritious meals during Ramadan is a priority for the agency. “Through these iftar packages, we want to ensure our brothers and sisters in Gaza have the strength to observe their fast and feel the tangible support of the Indonesian people,” he said in Jakarta on Friday, February 27, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

Noor noted that food security in Gaza has become increasingly critical this Ramadan, with logistical challenges complicating access to basic supplies. The distribution, he explained, is a tactical step to guarantee food availability during the holy month.

“This assistance is a trust from the Indonesian people that must reach those in need. Baznas is committed to consistently delivering aid to help meet the basic needs of Gaza’s residents during this difficult time,” he added.

Despite obstacles in transporting aid due to instability in the region, Baznas continues to coordinate with humanitarian partners on the ground to ensure timely and effective distribution. Noor highlighted the spirit of Ramadan as a month of sharing and compassion, stressing that Baznas’s presence in Gaza seeks to ease the suffering of those who have lost homes and livelihoods.

He also called on Indonesians to sustain their support for Palestinians. “Zakat strengthens not only Indonesia but also the global humanitarian mission,” Noor Achmad affirmed. ***
