RRI.CO.ID, New York - Eighty United Nations (UN) member states have condemned Israel’s move to expand its claims over the Palestinian West Bank. They also reiterate that the two-state solution is the "only path" to ensure security and stability in Palestine and Israel.

During a press conference at UN headquarters in New York on Wednesday, 18 February 2026, Palestinian Ambassador to the UN Riyad Mansour delivered a joint statement on behalf of the 80 nations. They assert that Israel’s actions violate its obligations under international law.

"We strongly condemn unilateral Israeli decisions and measures aimed at expanding Israel's unlawful presence in the West Bank. Such decisions are contrary to Israel's obligations under international law and must be immediately reversed," he said.

In the statement, the 80 nations underscored their staunch opposition to all forms of annexation. They re-emphasize any measures intended to alter the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel since 1967.

"Such measures violate international law, undermine the ongoing efforts for peace and stability in the region, run counter to the comprehensive plan, and jeopardize the prospects of reaching a peace agreement ending the conflict," Ambassador Mansour said.

Riyad Mansour reiterated their commitment to upholding the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and opposing illegal settlements in Palestinian lands. The nations further stressed that a two-state solution remains the only path to lasting stability.

"Ending the Israeli occupation that began in 1967, and implementing the two-state solution, where two democratic states, an independent and sovereign Palestine and Israel live side-by-side in peace and security within their secure and recognized borders on the basis... of 1967 lines including with regard to Jerusalem, remains the only path to ensure security and stability in the region," the statement concluded.

Indonesia is one of the signatories of the statement, and the country's UN mission confirmed this. Other signatories included Brazil, China, Japan, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, and the European Union.

This collective response follows the Israeli government’s February 15th decision to approve a plan to claim West Bank land as state property if Palestinian residents cannot provide proof of ownership. According to Israeli public broadcaster KAN, the proposal was put forward by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, Justice Minister Yariv Levin, and Defense Minister Israel Katz.
