Indonesia Appointed Deputy Commander of Gaza Stabilization Force

RRI.CO.ID, Washington DC - Indonesia has been appointed Deputy Commander of the International Stabilization Force (ISF) for Gaza, a multinational mission tasked with overseeing ceasefire implementation and supporting humanitarian recovery.

The announcement was made by ISF Commander Major General Jasper Jeffers during the inaugural meeting of the Gaza Board of Peace (BoP) on Thursday, February 19, 2026.

“I want to announce that I have offered, and Indonesia has accepted, the position of Deputy Commander for the ISF. With these initial steps, we will help deliver the security Gaza needs for future prosperity and lasting peace,” Jeffers said.

Indonesia joins Morocco, Albania, Kosovo, Kazakhstan, Egypt, and Jordan in the ISF, which is mandated to monitor the ceasefire and ensure stability in Gaza as civil governance takes shape. Jeffers emphasized that the force’s mission is non-confrontational, focusing instead on humanitarian, medical, and reconstruction efforts.

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto confirmed Indonesia’s acceptance of the deputy commander role and pledged readiness to deploy up to 8,000 military personnel.

“Yes, they asked us to serve as Deputy Commander. We are prepared to send our forces to actively participate in the ISF to ensure this peace effort succeeds,” he said following the BoP meeting.

President Prabowo added that the first group of Indonesian personnel would be dispatched soon. “Perhaps the advance teams will be deployed within one to two months. We are committed to its success. We know there will be many challenges, but we remain highly optimistic,” he noted.

Indonesia’s participation in the ISF reflects its broader commitment to international peacekeeping and humanitarian missions, reinforcing its role as a trusted partner in multilateral efforts to stabilize Gaza. ***
