RRI.CO.ID, New York – Indonesia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Sugiono, held bilateral meetings with the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, and Jordan on the sidelines of the UN Security Council Open Briefing in New York on Wednesday, 18 February 2026. The meetings discussed the latest geopolitical developments and their implications for the peace process in Palestine.
Indonesia reaffirmed its active role in promoting the strengthening of a ceasefire and the protection of civilians, particularly in Gaza, as well as the importance of steps consistent with international law to achieve a just and lasting peace.

Minister Sugiono emphasized that any form of forced displacement of the Palestinian people constitutes a violation of international law and must be firmly rejected.
“Our brothers and sisters in Palestine can no longer wait to experience a just and dignified peace,” he said.
These meetings took place one day before the Inaugural Leaders’ Meeting of the Board of Peace (BoP) on 19 February 2026 in Washington, D.C. Indonesia views its involvement from the early stages of the BoP as important to ensure that the mechanism being developed remains consistent with the UN Charter and UN Security Council Resolution 2803 (2025).
During the discussions, the foreign ministers agreed that various peace mechanisms, including the BoP, must align with the vision of the Two-State Solution and uphold international law. Indonesia’s participation is intended to ensure that the voice and rights of the Palestinian people are reflected in every stage of deliberation.

In addition, Minister Sugiono also held meetings with the UN Secretary-General and the Permanent Observer of Palestine to the UN on 17 February 2026. These meetings reaffirmed Indonesia’s consistency in supporting the multilateral system and its role as a trusted partner in addressing the situation in Gaza.
Sugiono also met with the UK Foreign Secretary as President of the UN Security Council for February 2026, emphasizing the importance of delivering humanitarian assistance to Gaza swiftly, safely, and without obstruction.
The entire series of meetings reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to continue standing with the Palestinian people and to strengthening the multilateral system as the foundation for achieving a just and sustainable peace.
