RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - A new partnership with a Chinese education consultancy is set to expand academic mobility and cross-border collaboration as Indonesian universities intensify their global engagement strategies.
An example this initiative is Hasanuddin University (Unhas), which is exploring strategic cooperation in international education with Anhui Fuxin Education Consulting through the Fuxin Education program.
In a statement issued in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Thursday, February 19, 2026, Unhas Rector Jamaluddin Jompa (JJ) said the initiative reflects a concrete commitment to fostering cross-country educational collaboration focused on quality and sustainability.
He noted that Unhas has consistently expanded its global network as part of a broader strategy to strengthen its international reputation. According to him, internationalization is not merely about increasing the number of foreign students, but also about enhancing academic quality, research collaboration, faculty and student mobility, and integration with the global industrial ecosystem.
“We welcome Fuxin Education as a strategic partner in opening broader access to collaboration with institutions in China. Unhas is committed to ensuring that every partnership established is not merely symbolic, but delivers tangible academic and institutional impact,” Jamaluddin said, as quoted by Antara.
At the same event, Founder and General Manager of Fuxin Education, Jeff Sun, outlined the cross-border partnership model, which focuses on student mobility, institutional collaboration, and industry engagement.
The program is designed as an integrated collaboration model that not only targets Chinese students but also aims to develop a broader education ecosystem involving universities, students, and industry players.
“Cooperation can also be directed toward the development of specific academic programs. Several possible options include master’s degree programs supported by Mandarin language instruction, as well as strengthened cross-faculty collaboration,” he said. ***
