RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, attended the screening of Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story at Cinema XXI Plaza Senayan in Jakarta, Friday, 13 February 2026. The event coincided with the film’s Indonesian premiere, part of its global launch.

The epic historical film, directed and produced by Akbar Khan, portrays the enduring love story of Prince Khurram, later known as Shah Jahan, and Arjumand Banu Begum, or Mumtaz Mahal. Set during the height of the Mughal Empire, the film depicts their romance amid political intrigue and royal conflict, culminating in the construction of the Taj Mahal as a timeless symbol of devotion.

In his remarks, Fadli Zon praised the film’s strong narrative, historical depth, and humanitarian message. He said the production offers not only entertainment but also education and cultural reflection.

“Film Taj Mahal is a work rooted in the true love story of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal, which later gave birth to an extraordinary cultural expression in the form of the Taj Mahal monument, one of the world’s heritage sites admired and visited by people from around the globe,” Fadli Zon said.

Although he has visited the Taj Mahal twice, the minister noted that the film presents a broader and deeper perspective on India’s civilization during the Mughal era. He highlighted the portrayal of palace intrigue, political conflict, and epic storytelling delivered with high technical quality and seriousness.

“This is a very compelling and educational film, rich in historical value and filled with messages of love and compassion,” he conveyed. He also emphasized that traditional Indian songs in the film strengthen the emotional experience for audiences.

Meanwhile, Akbar Khan expressed gratitude for the minister’s presence at the premiere. He described the Indonesian government’s support as a meaningful commitment to arts, culture, and intercultural dialogue.

“In a world filled with challenges and conflict, the message of love conveyed by the film Taj Mahal is highly relevant,” he said. He expressed hope that the film would serve as a bridge of friendship, further strengthening cultural ties between Indonesia and India.
