RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia, in collaboration with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), has completed the e-Trade Readiness Assessment (eT Ready), a comprehensive study designed to advance the country’s marketplace ecosystem and digital trade sector.
Speaking at the launch in Jakarta on Thursday, February 12, 2026, Director of International Trade at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ditya Agung Nurdianto, said the assessment provides clear direction to ensure that Indonesia’s digital economy grows not only steadily but also more equitably, securely, and resiliently.
“The findings will help guide Indonesia’s efforts to strengthen its marketplace ecosystem and digital trade, while encouraging better alignment,” he noted in a statement released by UNCTAD on Friday, February 13, as quoted by Antara.
The study offers an evidence-based roadmap to foster inclusive, competitive, and sustainable digital trade. It outlines strategic steps to reinforce the national marketplace ecosystem, particularly in areas such as digital payments, governance, and regulation.
Developed through broad stakeholder consultations, the report also proposes practical measures to improve coordination, enhance logistics, build digital skills, and expand cybersecurity protections for online businesses.
Importantly, eT Ready integrates cross-cutting issues, including the participation of women, youth, persons with disabilities, informal sector actors, and remote communities, ensuring that digital transformation benefits all.
Indonesia’s digital economy reached an estimated value of USD 90 billion in 2024, accounting for one-third of ASEAN’s total. Digital trade has been placed at the core of Indonesia’s long-term development strategy under Vision Indonesia Emas 2045, which aims to achieve high-income status.
UNCTAD Deputy Secretary-General Pedro Manuel Moreno emphasized that eT Ready is designed to support government efforts to empower micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) build trust in digital transactions, and secure sustainable growth.
He noted that this is UNCTAD’s first assessment in a G20 country to integrate environmental sustainability into the analysis of the digital marketplace ecosystem. “Indonesia demonstrates how digital transformation can drive competitiveness and inclusion simultaneously,” Moreno said. ***
