RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Defense, has reaffirmed the full readiness of the Indonesian Military (TNI) to deploy peacekeeping forces to the Gaza Strip, Palestine. The final decision regarding the number of personnel to be sent is expected to be made in late February 2026.
Vice Defense Minister, Donny Ermawan Taufanto, stated that the TNI has completed thorough preparations, both in terms of personnel and equipment. The troops are currently on standby and can be deployed at any time once official coordination and authorization are finalized.
“In essence, we are ready. The TNI Headquarters and the Commander of the TNI have prepared our personnel to be deployed at any time. We are now just waiting for coordination and the official order regarding when we will depart. The bottom line is, we are ready,” Donny said after a working meeting with House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta on Tuesday, 10 February 2026.
On the same occasion, TNI Deputy Commander, General Tandyo Budi Revita explained that the number of personnel to be deployed remains subject to ongoing international negotiations. However, the military has prepared several options regarding the scale of Indonesia’s potential contribution.
“In the last week of February, it will be decided how many TNI personnel will contribute in terms of personnel numbers. At this point, we have several options ready to actively participate in peace efforts in Gaza,” Tandyo said.
He also underscored that the personnel being prepared are experienced peacekeepers who have previously served in conflict areas, particularly those who were part of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). Indonesia has been contributing troops to UNIFIL since 2008.
The planned deployment is part of Indonesia’s broader commitment to supporting international peace and stability, in line with its constitutional mandate to contribute to the maintenance of world order and global peace.
