RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Indonesia is currently making preparations for a possible deployment of security forces to Gaza, Palestine, through the International Stabilization Force (ISF) mechanism. Spokesperson for the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vahd Nabyl A. Mulachela, said the preparatory process is underway, although there is still no definitive timeline or confirmed number of personnel to be deployed.
“The preparations are indeed being carried out. However, regarding the timeline and the number of personnel, nothing has been finalized so far,” Nabyl told the press in Jakarta on Tuesday, 10 February 2026.
He explained that the planned deployment of security forces to Gaza requires coordination among ministries and agencies at the national level, as well as communication with various international partners.
“Therefore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with relevant ministries and agencies, continues to coordinate closely to follow up on the President’s instructions,” he said.
Besides, Nabyl affirmed that Indonesia’s involvement in the ISF is focused on humanitarian efforts and does not include participation in disarmament activities.
Previously, several Israeli media outlets reported that field preparations had begun for the deployment of Indonesian forces to Gaza as part of the ISF. Citing sources familiar with the matter, the reports suggested that the deployment could involve several thousand personnel, including initial planning and logistical preparations.
On 17 November 2025, the United Nations Security Council adopted Resolution 2803 supporting the establishment of an international stabilization force in Gaza. The resolution, proposed by the United States, was backed by 13 Council members, while Russia and China abstained.
The resolution authorizes UN member states, together with the Board of Peace (BoP), to establish a temporary ISF in Gaza under a unified command, with troop contributions from participating countries and the authority to take necessary measures in accordance with international law.
Under the resolution, the ISF is tasked, among other things, with helping secure border areas, stabilizing the security environment in Gaza, protecting civilians, and coordinating with relevant parties to ensure humanitarian access and corridors. The ISF will be funded through voluntary donor contributions, as well as funding from the BoP and governments.
