RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Embassy in Singapore is providing ongoing support to the family of an Indonesian citizen affected by a traffic accident while on holiday in the country.

According to Acting Director for the Protection of Indonesian Citizens at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Heni Hamidah, the incident occurred on Friday morning, February 6, and claimed the life of six-year-old SL.

“The Embassy has contacted the victim’s family, met with the father, and visited the hospital to provide necessary assistance and support,” Heni said in Jakarta on Sunday, February 8, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

She explained that the Embassy has coordinated with local authorities to ensure all administrative procedures are properly handled, particularly arrangements for repatriating the child’s remains. The body was flown back to Indonesia on Sunday morning at 6:50 a.m. local time and later buried at Tanah Kusir Cemetery in Jakarta.

Meanwhile, the victim’s mother, RA (31), remains under intensive care at a hospital in Singapore.

“The Embassy will continue close coordination with both local authorities and the victim’s family to monitor developments and provide necessary assistance,” Heni added.

Social media reports indicated that the accident took place near the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple in Singapore’s Chinatown. The mother and child were struck by a car exiting a parking area, while the father escaped unharmed.

Regarding the driver, Heni confirmed that the authorities have detained a foreign national woman involved in the incident. ***
