RRI.CO.ID, Geneva -The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Indonesia to the UN, WTO, and Other International Organizations (PTRI) in Geneva won first place in the Permanent Representations category at the 11th Geneva Engage Awards, which were organized by the Geneva Internet Platform (GIP) and DiploFoundation, Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
The award recognizes the mission's digital diplomacy performance, which was assessed through a quantitative analysis of social media reach, website accessibility, and the relevance of the institution's digital content in Geneva from January 1 to December 15, 2024.
Ambassador Achsanul Habib, the First Deputy Permanent Representative, emphasized that this award reflects not only PTRI Geneva's digital presence but also its efforts to translate complex multilateral issues into accessible narratives.
"Digital diplomacy has now become an integral part of how Indonesia represents itself in international forums. This recognition aligns with the performance indicators of the Permanent Mission in Geneva, which considers social media and digital platform management to be part of Indonesia's public diplomacy strategy," said Ambassador Habib.
"This ensures that the Indonesian people understand the connection between global processes in Geneva and national interests and daily life."
In the Permanent Representations category, the Permanent Mission in Geneva was deemed superior to the nine other nominated permanent missions. These included representatives from countries with strong digital diplomacy traditions, such as France, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Russia.
Ambassador Achsanul Habib said the award reflects the Permanent Mission in Geneva's efforts to convey Indonesia's multilateral diplomacy in various international forums in Geneva, including the UN Human Rights Council, the WTO, the WHO, and other bodies, through a more open, accessible, and relevant communication approach for the public.
The Geneva Engage Awards are an annual event held by the GIP for eleven years. Established by the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) and the Swiss Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM), it is managed by DiploFoundation, an organization focused on strengthening internet governance and global digital diplomacy.
The awards ceremony took place at the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) headquarters and was attended by over 100 participants from various Geneva-based agencies. The event began with remarks from Nathalie Fontanet, president of the state council of the republic and canton of Geneva. (Misni Parjiati/Bambang MBKA)
