RRI.CO.ID, Bogor - Djuanda University (UNIDA), a private university in Bogor Regency, West Java on the outskirts of Jakarta is planning to establish a "German Center". A collaboration with the Indonesian diaspora in Germany, it was discussed in a meeting between the university officials and the diaspora in Jakarta on Sunday, 1 February 2026.

The German Center is planned to function as a unit for leadership-oriented human development, an information center, and a language development facilitator. Besides that, it would be a center for international competency and assisting international programs, especially those managed by the German government.

Lecturer representative at UNIDA's Master of Law, Achmad Jaka Santos Adiwijaya, said that the center is a strategic step in responding to Indonesia's demographic bonus while increasing the competitiveness of graduates globally. Improving the competence and leadership of the younger generation, in his opinion, is an urgent need.

"The German Center serves as a bridge between program information, skills development, and tangible impact on society. This also aligns with UNIDA's commitment to being a leading university focused on enhancing its international reputation," Achmad said.

Meanwhile, Indonesian diaspora in Germany, Doddy Kadarisman, said that this collaboration opens up great opportunities for the country's young generation to access various quality education and training programs. Germany offers numerous scholarship opportunities, job training, and competency development that, he said, UNIDA students can choose to improve their competencies and skills.

"Furthermore, Germany's strong work culture and professional ethos can be crucial assets for participants in improving their personal qualities and global competitiveness," Doddy said.

Meanwhile, from a vocational education perspective, the university's agricultural lecturer, Himmatul Miftah, views the German Center as a strategic opportunity to strengthen the link between education and the international workplace. He said vocational programs, both at the university and vocational high school levels, must be able to capitalize on global opportunities.

"Schemes such as double-track programs, Recognition of Prior Learning, and Ausbildung enable students to significantly improve their skills while simultaneously opening up access to international competency recognition," Miftah said.

UNIDA is a private university established in 1983 by the Indonesian Amaliah Islamic Development Study Center Foundation (Yayasan Pusat Studi Pengembangan Islam Indonesia). Located about 50 kilometers from Jakarta, near Jagorawi Toll Road, it was named after former Indonesian prime minister Djuanda Kartawidjaja.
