RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Coordination Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said that Indonesia is speeding up the energy transition to renewable energy as part of the foundation for “Golden Indonesia 2045” vision. He also announced Indonesia still has a lot of funds to invest in this sector.
At the 2026 Indonesia Economic Summit (IES) held at Jakarta, on Tuesday, 3 February 2026, he stated that the government is confident with the nation’s trajectory in energy transition. The government collaborated with G20 countries to amass the funds, especially mentioning a flagship initiative led by Japan, Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC).
This is part of a broader commitment from G20 nations under the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP). Through this partnership, Indonesia received funding up to US$21.4 billion to support the nation’s goal of reaching 70 GW of clean energy by 2034.
“Which Indonesia has been using so far about US$3.5 billion. So there is many more billion to be invested in Indonesia. This is already in the pipeline,” he said.
He also mentioned the funding includes a major 600-megawatt (MW) power project set to serve as a cornerstone for the country's "green gateway." This refers to the landmark Pulau Bulan Solar Project, which recently began transmitting clean electricity to Jurong, Singapore, via a 50-km undersea cable from Batam, Riau Island.
The funding also facilitates cross-border synergy. Indonesia is currently negotiating green energy exports to Singapore through new Special Economic Zones (SEZs).
“With Singapore of course we have special economic zone, we are talking about exporting the green energy to Singapore and also working on the program digital human resource,” he said.
Simultaneously, Jakarta is looking to Malaysia, especially Sarawak, as a "mentor" for hydrogen and semiconductor manufacturing. Indonesia is leveraging its natural, raw materials for manufacturing to collaborate on energy production with high-value industrial growth.
