RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Indonesian citizens (WNI) currently in Iran do not yet need to be evacuated. Based on monitoring by the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Tehran, conditions in the country are considered to be gradually stabilizing.

This was conveyed by Foreign Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Vahd Nabyl Achmad Mulachela on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. Even so, he urged Indonesian citizens in Iran to remain vigilant.

“Avoid large crowds and always carry identification while carrying out activities,” he said. Indonesian citizens were also advised to contact the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran in the event of an emergency.

According to Vahd, there are currently 329 Indonesian citizens in Iran, most of whom are students. They are spread across several cities, mainly Tehran, Qom, and Bandar Abbas.

Vahd stated that based on observations by the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran, the situation in Iran remains relatively normal and conducive, particularly after mass demonstrations that took place in the first week of January 2026.

“The Ministry and the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran have prepared a repatriation scheme should anything occur or if the conflict escalates,” he continued. According to Vahd, there had previously been an internet disruption at the embassy, but operations have since returned to normal.

According to the Foreign Affairs Ministry website, the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran continues to communicate with Indonesian citizens across various regions in Iran, especially in key hubs of Indonesian communities such as Qom and Isfahan, where no significant disturbances have been reported.

Although evacuation is not yet required, the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran continues to anticipate potential security escalation in line with contingency plans that remain in place.

Indonesian citizens planning to travel to Iran are advised to postpone their trips until the security situation is fully declared conducive.
