Indonesia Reaffirms Non-Aligned Principle at the Indonesia Economic Summit 2026

RRI.CO.ID , Jakarta – In response to global conditions, the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs conveyed its stance as a non-aligned middle power at the Indonesia Economic Summit (IES) 2026 in Jakarta on Tuesday, 3 February 2026. The Government reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the non-aligned principle, regional stability, and multilateral cooperation.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Airlangga Hartarto, highlighted the importance of balancing Indonesia’s role as a non-aligned country. “It is very important how to balance power as a non-aligned country,” Airlangga stated in his remarks.
At the forum, the minister announced progress in the completion of Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements (CEPA) with several partners. “And Indonesia, now I can announce that most of the CEPAs have been completed, with Canada, with the European Union, with Eurasia, with EREU,” he said.
Minister Airlangga also presented data on Indonesia’s economic performance in early 2026. Indonesia’s Manufacturing Purchasing Manager’s Index was recorded at 52.6 in January 2026 and remained in the expansion phase for six consecutive months, with inflation recorded at a controlled level.
In addition, Airlangga outlined Indonesia’s external sector conditions. The country recorded a trade surplus for 68 consecutive months, with foreign exchange reserves standing above USD142 billion.
In the financial market sector, the Government continues its capital market reform agenda. The reforms cover four main pillars, namely liquidity, transparency, governance and law enforcement, as well as market deepening.
The Government also presented national socio-economic indicator data. The poverty rate was recorded at a single-digit level, the unemployment rate stood at 4.9 percent, the Gini ratio was 0.375, and the Human Development Index reached 75.9.
In the short term, the Government has prepared fiscal stimulus measures to maintain purchasing power and public mobility. “We have prepared Rp12.83 trillion to support purchasing power and mobility,” Coordinating Minister Airlangga said.
