RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia’s Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries outlined the Ocean Impact Summit 2026, which will take place in Bali province on 8–9 June 2026. At a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday, 28 January 2026, Head of the Multilateral Cooperation Team at the Ministry’s Secretariat General, Desri Yanti, said that one of the motivations behind initiating this summit is the desire to harness marine potential as a source of economic growth.
"So far, we have also wanted to shift the marine narrative, which previously focused more on conservation, toward how activities or resources in the ocean can be utilized as a source of economic growth in the marine and fisheries sector," Desri stated.
"We also hope (this summit) can generate innovation and broader job opportunities that originate from marine resources themselves," she conveyed.

To better reach global investors and business players at the Ocean Impact Summit, the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries stated it has held discussions and collaborations with the World Economic Forum organization. It has also held discussions with the deep-sea exploration organization OceanX, founded by American billionaire Ray Dalio.
The Special Staff of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries for Public Relations and Public Communication, Doni Ismanto Darwin, said that through this collaboration, Indonesia hopes to showcase its marine biodiversity, which can be utilized as an economic resource. He also said that the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries has now begun promoting the Ocean Impact Summit due to the event's international nature.
“It will be attended by many heads of state from abroad, as well as officials from international NGOs and the like, in Bali,” Doni said.
“We very much hope this can be part of our efforts to conduct a showcase of our biodiversity. Therefore, we are implementing partnership cooperation with the WEF and also with OceanX," he stated.
The utilization of marine resources as an economic driver, better known as the blue economy, has become one of Indonesia’s key focuses, particularly during the administration of President Prabowo Subianto. The Ocean Impact Summit, expected to catalyze the blue economy, was previously introduced by Prabowo at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, Switzerland, last week.
