RRI.CO.ID, Bali - Indonesia will host the Ocean Impact Summit 2026, which will take place in June 2026 in Bali. The global meeting will bring together world leaders, business people, and experts to produce concrete actions for sustainable ocean governance.

The support for hosting the event was revealed during the Blue Economy environmental session at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, which was recently held. The World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, attended by Indonesian President Prabowo, has enlightened the world about Prabowo Subianto's economic program.

However, the meeting discussed not only economic issues, but also discussed other matters such as sustainable marine environmental issues. The increasingly massive damage to the ocean is a threat to the world.

Therefore, joint efforts are needed to restore the marine ecosystem from the impact of climate change, pollution, and illegal fishing activities that threaten the current fish population.

Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, who was part of the Indonesian delegation at the forum, conveyed this message at the Velocity of the Blue Economy event, which was part of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

"Our oceans are facing serious threats, ocean warming, increasing acidity, declining fish stocks, and marine pollution. Our oceans are calling on us to act together to save and manage them responsibly,"  Minister Trenggono said.

As an archipelagic country, Indonesia, with its Blue Economy programs, is ready to lead joint efforts to protect the marine ecosystem from increasingly massive damage. The ocean has been a part of Indonesia's history, identity, and future.

According to him, quick and collaborative action is needed between the government, business people, and the community. Efforts that have been made by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries include continuously expanding marine conservation areas, which currently cover more than 30 million hectares, towards 97.5 million hectares in 2045.

The fishing system will also be regulated through a quota system to minimize excessive and illegal fishing. On the other hand, fisheries cultivation continues to be developed innovatively, sustainably, and inclusively, providing welfare for the community and maintaining food security.
