Australian Home Affairs Minister Visits Indonesia

RRI.CO.ID, Sydney - Australian Minister for Home Affairs, Tony Burke, visits Indonesia from January 27 to 29. His coming is to co-chair the 11th Australia-Indonesia Ministerial Council (MCM) Meeting on Law and Security.
The meeting, is held on January 28, will bring together ministers and senior officials to discuss our partnership in countering terrorism and violent extremism, cybersecurity, civil maritime security, people smuggling, and irregular migration.
According to a release received by RRI Voice of Indonesia on Wednesday, 28 January 2026 a review of domestic and regional security will be on the agenda - including terrorism and violent extremism with international cooperation on these issues particularly important following the terrorist attack on Bondi Beach.
"There is no more important partner for Australia than Indonesia, and I look forward to deepening that partnership during my visit. While we are neighbors by circumstance, Australia and Indonesia are friends and partners by choice, and we are taking our cooperation to new heights, in the interests of our own security and the security of the region." Minister Burke said.
Ministers will also discuss cooperation in maritime security, irregular migration, cybersecurity, critical infrastructure protection, and transnational security challenges.
During the visit, Minister Burke will meet with partners across a number of areas of responsibility.
These meetings will further strengthen cooperation under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and reinforce our commitment to working together.
