ASEAN Para Games 2025 Thailand Officially Closed

RRI.CO.ID, Nakhon Ratchasima: The 13th ASEAN Para Games (APG) 2025 Thailand, a Southeast Asian multi-sport event for athletes with disabilities, has concluded and was officially closed. Indonesian athletes expressed pride in being able to bring the Red and White flag to a second-place finish.

The official website of the Ministry of Youth and Sports on Tuesday, 27 January 2026 stated that at the 13th APG, Thailand emerged as the overall champion with a total of 175 gold, 155 silver, and 157 bronze medals. The Indonesian contingent followed as runner-up with 135 gold, 143 silver, and 114 bronze medals.

“We are proud and grateful to be able to contribute to bringing the Indonesian contingent to second place at the APG Thailand,” Leani Ratri Oktila, a female para badminton athlete said.

“Yes, we are happy and proud that Indonesia finished as runner-up. Thank you to President Prabowo, Minister of Youth and Sports Erick, Vice Minister Taufik, the Chairman of NPC Indonesia, and the Indonesian CdM Mr. Reda for their motivation and support throughout this time. Hopefully, in the future we will be able to achieve even greater success,” Ken Swagumilang, a male para archery athlete stated.

The closing ceremony of the ASEAN Para Games 2025 Thailand, which took place from 20 to 26 January 2026, was held at the Main Stadium, His Majesty the King’s 80th Birthday Anniversary Stadium, Nakhon Ratchasima, on Monday night, 26 January 2026.

At the beginning of the closing ceremony, spectators were entertained with several local music performances and songs, followed by a mass dance. This was followed by the parade of contingents starting with Brunei Darussalam, followed by Indonesia and then Laos.

Next came the contingents of Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, followed by Singapore, Timor-Leste, Vietnam, and finally the host nation Thailand.

Thousands of visitors filled the seats of the football stadium, which has a capacity of 24,000 spectators. LED light displayed laser lights, and fireworks performances became the main attractions of the closing celebration.

In the middle of the green field, the three mascots of the ASEAN Para Games 2025 Thailand stood alongside all contingents from the 10 ASEAN countries participating in APG 2025 Thailand. At the end of the ceremony, as a symbolic gesture, the flag of the ASEAN Para Sports Federation (APSF) was handed over from Thailand to Malaysia as the host of the 14th ASEAN Para Games in 2027.
