RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran has provided full security guarantees for foreign nationals, including Indonesian citizens, as the domestic situation becomes increasingly conducive. The Iranian Ambassador to Indonesia, Mohammad Boroujerdi, confirmed this during a press conference at his official residence in Jakarta on Thursday, 22 January 2026.

He explained that conditions in Iran have passed the critical phase and are gradually stabilizing after being marred by civil unrest. According to him, the restoration of public order is currently supported by millions of citizens demanding legal accountability for those responsible for the riots.

“We see that peace is gradually spreading in Iran. As of January 12, based on reports from various independent media, more than 20 million Iranians participated in a national demonstration to show their support for their country,” Ambassador Boroujerdi stated through an interpreter.

Regarding the protection of foreign nationals, Boroujerdi asserted that the issue remains a top priority for the government in Tehran. His office continues to maintain close communication with the diplomatic representatives of friendly nations to monitor the situation on the ground.

In a doorstop interview at the same event, Ambassador Boroujerdi emphasized the close coordination with Indonesia. “Regarding the safety of foreign nationals, our country guarantees their safety. Regarding Indonesian citizens, we are in close communication and coordination with the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran,” he said.

Despite guaranteeing security in general, he explained that the only foreign citizen who was a victim of the riots in Iran was the Palestinian Ambassador in Tehran. He said that the ambassador was targeted and became a victim and was severely injured.

At the press conference, Ambassador Boroujerdi also highlighted Iran's efforts to strengthen the independence of its defense industry. He emphasized that mastery of the latest science and technology is the main foundation for Iran's national strength in facing various global pressures today.
