RRI.CO.ID, Davos - Danantara Investment Management Agency affirmed its role as a new pillar of the Indonesian economy at the prestigious World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026 in Davos, Switzerland. The presence of this state asset management agency is projected to attract strategic investments to accelerate Indonesia's goal of becoming a high-income country.

Managing Director of Global Relations and Governance at Danantara, Mohamad Al-Arief, stated that this inaugural participation is a crucial moment to introduce the institution's mandate to the global community.

He explained that Danantara was established as a sovereign wealth fund (SWF) with a dual mandate. Beside driving optimal investment returns, this institution has a significant responsibility to create tangible social and economic impact for the nation.

"We want to say that we, as an institution, were created to be an additional engine, an additional instrument to achieve those national goals. So, we are the embodiment of those national goals," Al-Arief stated during a discussion session in Davos on Tuesday, 20 January 2026.

In line with this, the Managing Director of Investment at Danantara, Stefanus Ade Widjaja, revealed that in less than a year, Danantara has shown significant progress. Various international strategic partnerships have been established to boost foreign direct investment (FDI) into the country.

Stefanus detailed that over the past 11 months, they have collaborated with world-class financial investors such as the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), China Investment Corporation, Future Fund Australia, and JBIC from Japan. Not only that, Danantara is also partnering with strategic operators for the energy transition and battery industries.

"So that will enable us to invest bigger together with them, but also we expand our capacity thru the RCF," he said.

As a driver of national economic growth, Danantara operates on two main pillars: asset management and investment management. Currently, the total assets under management reach approximately 900 billion US dollars.

This figure places Danantara among the top ten largest sovereign wealth funds in the world, while also strengthening Indonesia's bargaining position in the global financial market.
