RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia and Chile have agreed to strengthen the implementation of the Indonesia-Chile Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IC-CEPA) by enhancing business-to-business engagement to boost bilateral trade and investment.

The agreement was one of the key outcomes of a meeting between Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sugiono and Chilean Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francisco Pérez Mackenna in Jakarta on Monday, July 20, 2026.

"We agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various strategic sectors, including critical minerals, science and technology, agriculture, and healthcare," Sugiono said in a post on his official social media account on Monday.

In addition to advancing the implementation of IC-CEPA, both countries also committed to expanding cooperation in critical minerals, science and technology, agriculture, and healthcare as part of efforts to deepen the Indonesia-Chile strategic partnership.

According to Sugiono, strengthening the implementation of IC-CEPA is an important step toward enhancing economic relations between the two countries, including through greater business-to-business engagement.

"The meeting builds on 60 years of 🇮🇩-🇨🇱 bilateral ties while reaffirming Global South solidarity in advancing a fair, inclusive, and sustainable global order," Sugiono said.

During the meeting, the two foreign ministers also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening solidarity among Global South countries in promoting a fairer, more inclusive, and sustainable global order.

According to Indonesia's Ministry of Trade, Indonesia and Chile signed the IC-CEPA on December 14, 2017, and began implementing the agreement on August 10, 2019. The Trade in Services Protocol under the IC-CEPA was signed on November 21, 2022, and was ratified by Indonesia in early 2025.

Under the IC-CEPA, a total of 6,704 Indonesian products enjoy zero-percent import tariffs in the Chilean market, including agricultural, fisheries, manufacturing, mining, and other industrial products.
