RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The strengthening of economic cooperation between Indonesia and South Korea took center stage at the 2026 Indonesian Day Business Forum in Seoul, an event that brought together government representatives and business leaders from both countries.

In a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul, Ali Andika Wardana, emphasized that the forum reflects the solid foundation underpinning bilateral economic relations.

“Stable and forward-looking bilateral ties, complementary economic cooperation, and Indonesia’s vast business opportunities are the reasons why Indonesia and South Korea share a strong economic future,” Ali Andika stated, as quoted by Antara.

He underscored the importance of collaboration between government and private sectors in exploring new opportunities and deepening economic engagement. The embassy, he added, remains committed to assisting South Korean businesses in identifying ventures in Indonesia that contribute to mutual prosperity and growth.

The forum, held on January 19, 2026 by KB Bank Indonesia in partnership with KB Kookmin Bank and supported by the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul, coincided with the rising flow of South Korean investment into Indonesia. Between 2020 and 2025, South Korea’s realized investment in the country reached USD 13.3 billion.

Chief of Global Business Group at KB Kookmin Bank, Lee Jong Min, described the success of South Korean companies in Indonesia as tangible proof of strong bilateral cooperation. He affirmed the bank’s commitment to remain a reliable partner in advancing this collaboration.

Lee also highlighted the forum’s role as a vital platform to connect Indonesia’s market opportunities with practical implementation and measurable business outcomes that benefit all stakeholders.

Meanwhile, KB Bank President Director Kunardy Darma Lie explained that the initiative aims to facilitate bilateral trade and investment, particularly by supporting South Korean firms operating in Indonesia.

“We are committed to assisting South Korean exporters entering the Indonesian market and helping companies expand or deepen their presence in Indonesia,” Kunardy said. ***
