KBRN, Jakarta: In a move set to deepen bilateral ties, Britain announced the launch of its first-ever cyber trade mission in Indonesia, an initiative specifically designed to strengthen cooperation in the vital area of digital economic security and pave the way for a major new strategic partnership.

“This mission marks an important UK-Indonesia relationship in the cybersecurity sector and opens up opportunities for strategic and commercial collaboration in the coming year,” said British Ambassador to Indonesia Dominic Jermey in Jakarta on Monday, October 27, 2025, as quoted by antaranews.com.

Jermey stated that the UK supports Indonesia’s efforts to build secure cyber governance through the Indo-Pacific Cyber Program under the UK National Cyber Strategy.

“We are bringing top UK cyber companies known for their innovation and technical sophistication to support Indonesia in strengthening digital resilience and developing the cybersecurity ecosystem within the Roadmap Towards Indonesia 4.0,” he explained.

He expressed hope that the roadmap would make Indonesia a leader in the digital economy by 2030. “Together, the UK and Indonesia can build systems that protect citizens, empower businesses, and uphold democratic values in the digital age,” he said.

Jermey added that the collaboration between the two countries is expected to continue promoting economic growth under the Strategic Partnership framework, which will be signed by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer in the coming weeks.

British Deputy Ambassador Matthew Downing explained that the trade mission involves 11 cyber companies and academic initiatives and is running from October 27–29. Participating companies include BAE Systems Digital Intelligence, Darktrace, Goldilock, and Glasswall.

Director of Infrastructure and Technology for the UK Department for Business and Trade, Rodney Berkeley, mentioned that his country is a global leader in cybersecurity with more than 2,100 companies and 67,000 professionals.

“The UK is ready to deepen collaboration through the UK-Indonesia Strategic Partnership to support cyber resilience, the 100 Smart Cities program, and the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy,” he concluded. ***
