RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The United States Navy has launched its largest annual humanitarian and disaster-preparedness mission in the Indo-Pacific, aiming to strengthen regional resilience through health, engineering, and outreach projects.

Known as Pacific Partnership 2026, the initiative will make stops in Indonesia, the Philippines, Timor Leste, Malaysia, and Vietnam over a five-month period.

Speaking at a virtual press conference on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, Captain Robert Reyes explained that the mission involves 300 personnel and seven port visits.

“This year we bring together 300 mission members who will participate across seven stops in five months,” he said, as quoted by Antara.

Reyes noted that allied nations including Australia, Canada, Fiji, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, and the United Kingdom are contributing personnel and assets.

Launched in response to the devastating 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, Pacific Partnership has grown into the Indo-Pacific’s largest multinational humanitarian and civil assistance mission.

Its focus is on improving disaster response capabilities and interoperability among participating nations, while also supporting community health and infrastructure.

The 2026 mission officially began with the departure of U.S. personnel from San Diego on May 27, bound for the Philippines, which serves as the mission’s coordination hub.

The first stop will be Vietnam in mid-June, where teams will begin implementing projects designed to enhance local preparedness and strengthen ties across the region.

By combining humanitarian outreach with disaster readiness, Pacific Partnership 2026 underscores the role of multinational cooperation in safeguarding communities and promoting stability in one of the world’s most dynamic regions. ***
